Learn to Crochet

For beginners or those needing a refresher course. You will make a dishcloth by learning how to begin with a chain stitch, do single, half double, double & triple crochet stitches, and then fasten off. You'll also do a 2nd dishcloth and learn how to crochet in the round. Supplies: 1 skein of Reynolds Saucy cotton yarn, size G or H crochet hook & stitch marker.

Come learn how to spin on a wheel. If you don't have a wheel, we'll let you borrow one of ours. If you want to use your own wheel, it must be complete and in good working order (no antique wheels please). We will cover all the parts of the wheel, how to treadle, how to draft, and how to ply. By the end of the class you should have a small ball of yarn you have spun up yourself and plied. (Class size limited to 3 students.)

Introduction to Shuttle Tatting

Did you have a grandmother that tatted beautiful doilies? Did your great-aunt embellish her handkerchiefs and pillow slips with tatted lace? Have you always wanted to learn to tat? Well, here's your chance. In this series of classes you will learn the fundamentals of tatting with a shuttle. Learn how to do the double-stitch, master the "flip", make rings and chains, and tat simple motifs. Supplies: The Complete Book of Tatting by R. Jones, 2 plastic shuttles with pointed tip (Clover), 2 small balls of Presencia Perle Cotton 5 in contrasting colors, 1 steel crochet hook (size 8 or smaller), small sharp embroidery scissors & magnifying glasses/lens (optional).
Intermediate Shuttle Tatting

In this class we will build on the techniques learned in the introductory class. Learn how to understand patterns, work with two colors, deal with thread ends, make complex joins, and tat a simple project. Prerequisite: Introduction to Shuttle Tatting class. 10 Stitch Blanket

interesting techniques: short-row mitering, knitting backwards, attaching the piece as we go & the I-cord bind-off. Supplies: 12 skeins of Noro Silk Garden in several different colorways (you can just buy 3-4 to begin with and add others as you go) and a size 9-16" needle.
Coquille Shawl

Don't let those double-pointed needles intimidate you!
